Project Engineer
📍 Omaha
đź’° $90,000 - $125,000
🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
At KnowHireMatch.com, we’re not just filling a seat—we’re connecting you with work that matters. This Project Engineer role puts you at the center of building the next generation of electric power generation. You’ll shape natural gas–fueled projects from concept through construction, and you may even get your hands on cutting-edge carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technology. If you’re ready to move beyond spreadsheets and into real-world impact, this is your launchpad.
**What You’ll Do**
You’ll be the technical backbone of interdisciplinary teams—working alongside lead engineers, business development, environmental, finance, and operations folks, plus external partners like suppliers, consultants, and lenders. Your day-to-day will be a mix of big-picture thinking and hands-on execution:
- Evaluate facility configurations and layout options to squeeze every bit of performance out of a project.
- Support technology assessments and help define the design basis—you’ll be the one asking, “What if we tried this?”
- Assist with conceptual design for power generation projects, from combustion turbine generators (simple and combined cycle) to reciprocating internal combustion engines.
- Keep a pulse on equipment supplier innovations and translate that intel into smarter project decisions.
- Prepare performance estimates: capacity, efficiency, heat balances, water usage—the numbers that make or break a project.
- Get involved in site identification, screening, and due diligence (yes, you’ll get your boots dirty).
- Develop and analyze project schedules, then oversee technical specs and bid processes for major equipment, engineering, and construction services.
- Help build capital and operating cost estimates, and write comprehensive technical reports that actually get read.
- Maintain organized, project-specific deliverables—because chaos doesn’t build power plants.
**What You Bring**
You’re an engineer who’s been in the energy sector for 2–5 years, and you’ve already cut your teeth on combustion turbine project design, permitting, or construction. You hold a Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited school.
You’re fluent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project—but more importantly, you’re fluent in solving problems. You’re analytical, detail-obsessed, and proactive. You thrive in fast-paced, multi-tasked environments where priorities shift and deadlines loom. You’re disciplined, adaptable, and collaborative—you know that the best solutions come from listening to the environmental team, the finance lead, and the construction manager all at once.
**Compensation & Location**
This is an Omaha-based role, and we’re offering $90,000–$125,000 per year, depending on experience.
