Maintenance Electrician

📍 Decorah, Iowa 💰 $25 - $30 🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
This isn’t just another maintenance role—it’s a chance to become the go-to electrical expert on a vibrant college campus in Decorah, Iowa. You’ll work on everything from high-voltage three-phase systems to delicate low-voltage controls, all while keeping a historic campus running smoothly. If you take pride in solving complex electrical puzzles and don’t mind grabbing a shovel when snow hits, this is your kind of place.

**What You’ll Do**
You’ll be the backbone of campus electrical systems. That means tackling work orders that range from a flickering light in a lecture hall to troubleshooting a building automation system. You’ll interpret blueprints, schematics, and product manuals to diagnose and fix problems—no cookie-cutter repairs here.

Your day-to-day includes:
- Performing electrical maintenance on three-phase primary voltages down to low-voltage control systems, all to NFPA 70 standards
- Reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, and blueprints to find solutions
- Preparing material lists for projects and keeping the electrical shop’s inventory organized
- Participating in scheduled inspections and maintenance of fire alarms, elevators, building automation systems, and backup generators
- Stepping in to help Boiler Operators when the heating plant needs electrical repairs
- Lending a hand to other Facilities teams—Grounds, Movers, Carpenters, Plumbers—when they need your expertise
- Keeping your work area, surrounding spaces, and the maintenance vehicle clean and organized
- Assisting with snow removal when winter hits (yes, you’ll be outside, but you’ll be the hero who keeps walkways safe)

**What You Bring**
You’ve got at least 4 years of hands-on experience installing and repairing electrical systems, and you’re comfortable working with three-phase voltages down to low voltage. You hold a high school diploma (or equivalent), and you know your way around the National Electrical Code.

You’re the kind of person who:
- Doesn’t just fix things—you understand *why* they broke
- Can read a blueprint like a map and turn it into a real-world solution
- Works well with others, whether it’s a plumber needing a hand or a boiler operator in a pinch
- Takes ownership of your tools, your inventory, and your workspace

**Compensation & Perks**
- **$25–30/hour**, based on experience
- A stable, campus-based role with variety every day
- The satisfaction of keeping a community running safely and efficiently
