Civil Engineer - Civil / Site Substation Design.
📍 Norcross, Georgia
đź’° $65,000 - $100,000
🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
At KnowHireMatch, we believe the best infrastructure work happens when you’re not just drawing lines on a screen—you’re solving real-world problems for the grid that powers our communities. We’re looking for a Civil Engineer who wants to own the site design for substation and power delivery projects, from the first grading cut to the final permit stamp. If you’re ready to trade generic land development for high-impact utility work, this Norcross-based role is your next move.
**What You’ll Do**
You’ll be the civil backbone of our power delivery team, taking projects from concept through construction. That means you’ll:
- Design grading, drainage, stormwater management, paving, and erosion control for substations and utility infrastructure—no two sites are the same.
- Build detailed site layouts and land development plans using **AutoCAD Civil 3D**, turning survey data into construction-ready drawings.
- Model stormwater systems with **Hydraflow** (Hydrographs, Express, Storm Sewers) and write SWPPP reports that keep us compliant with local and state regulations.
- Interpret geotechnical reports to guide grading decisions and assist with foundation design—shallow foundations, spread footings, drilled piers—so the structures stay solid.
- Coordinate daily with electrical, structural, and geotechnical engineers to keep the project moving without surprises.
- Prepare permitting packages, technical reports, and construction documents that stand up to regulatory scrutiny.
- Participate in QA/QC reviews—because catching a mistake on paper is better than catching it in the field.
- Visit project sites (up to 20% travel) to assess conditions, support construction, and make sure the design works in the real world.
**What You Bring**
- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- **Experience:** 3–7+ years in civil site development, with a focus on grading and drainage design. Utility or substation experience is a plus, but not required—we’ll teach you the power side.
- **Licensure:** EIT certification preferred; PE license in Georgia (or ability to obtain) strongly preferred.
- **Technical Skills:** You’re proficient in **AutoCAD Civil 3D** and comfortable with hydrology/hydraulics modeling. You’ve written SWPPP reports and know your way around permitting processes.
- **Soft Skills:** You communicate clearly, write well, and can explain a drainage plan to a non-engineer without losing them. Microsoft Office is second nature.
- **Location:** You’re able to work from our Norcross, GA office several days per week. Travel up to 20% for site visits is part of the rhythm.
**Compensation & Why Join**
**$65,000 – $100,000 per year**, based on experience and licensure. You’ll get hands-on with critical infrastructure, a team that actually collaborates, and projects that make a visible difference. If you’re
