Director of Procurement
📍 El Paso, Texas
đź’° $150,000 - $190,000
🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
This isn’t just another procurement role. It’s a chance to take the strategic reins for a Tier 1 automotive powerhouse that wires the world’s most iconic vehicles. As Director of Procurement, you’ll sit at the intersection of cost, quality, and innovation—reporting directly to the CEO and shaping how North America sources everything from copper to connectors. If you’re ready to lead a team, challenge supplier pricing, and build a supply chain that’s as resilient as it is efficient, this is your seat at the table.
**What You’ll Own**
You’ll define and execute the strategic sourcing vision for all direct and indirect materials across North American operations. That means developing a multi-year procurement roadmap that aligns with global objectives and the exacting quality standards of major OEMs. You’ll identify and lock in long-term partnerships for critical commodities—copper, terminals, connectors, insulation, and protective coverings—while driving digitization and best-practice implementation across the supply chain.
**Leading the Team**
You’ll lead a team of Commodity Buyers, Indirect Material Specialists, and a Logistics Lead. Your job is to mentor them, set clear KPIs around cost savings, supplier quality, inventory management, and on-time delivery, and foster a culture of strategic sourcing and financial stewardship. This isn’t about micromanaging—it’s about building a team that thinks like owners.
**Cost Management & Negotiation**
You’ll oversee all major commercial negotiations, including long-term agreements, price indexing, and annual cost-down targets with Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers. You’ll use advanced cost analysis techniques—should-cost modeling, value stream mapping—to challenge existing pricing and drive structural reductions. You’ll also manage currency, commodity price, and geopolitical risks that could disrupt the supply chain.
**Supplier Relationships & Risk**
You’ll establish a robust Supplier Relationship Management program focused on performance, innovation, and joint problem-solving. This means building partnerships that go beyond transactional—suppliers who see you as a strategic ally, not just a buyer.
**What You Bring**
- Deep experience in procurement leadership, ideally within automotive or a Tier 1 wiring harness environment
- Proven ability to negotiate complex, multi-year agreements and drive TCO reductions
- Strong people leadership—you’ve built and developed teams that deliver
- Comfort with cost modeling, risk analysis, and supply chain digitization
- A strategic mindset that balances short-term savings with long-term resilience
**Compensation & Location**
This role is based in **El Paso, Texas**, and offers a compensation range of **$150,000 – $190,000 per year**, depending on experience.
