🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
You’re not just running models; you’re mapping the future of energy infrastructure. In this role, you’ll be the central technical authority for the hydraulic performance of a major natural gas pipeline network. Your analysis will directly shape critical business decisions, from multimillion-dollar expansions to optimizing the daily flow of energy. This is a high-visibility position where your expertise informs both the control room and the boardroom, blending deep technical work with real-world impact.
**Your Mission: Hydraulic Engineer – Pipeline**
Based in Denver, Colorado, you will technically evaluate our natural gas pipeline systems using advanced steady-state modeling software. You’ll own the hydraulic models that drive capacity optimization, commercial opportunities, and system design. You’ll be the go-to expert, translating complex analysis into clear insights for commercial teams and mentoring fellow engineers to elevate the entire group’s capabilities.
**What You Will Do**
You will support, configure, and maintain the hydraulic models for our entire pipeline network, serving as the expert consultant for design, development, and implementation. A key part of your role involves constantly evaluating model performance against real-world pipeline data to identify and execute improvements.
Your days will be varied and impactful. You’ll:
* Partner directly with Commercial and Business Development teams to model potential acquisitions and expansion projects, clearly communicating hydraulic limitations and design needs on often-aggressive timelines.
* Provide crucial input into operational philosophies and improvements by evaluating pipeline performance opportunities for the control center.
* Train pipeline controllers to deepen their understanding of hydraulics and operational issues.
* Assist our Leak Detection Engineer by aligning hydraulic models used for real-time leak detection systems.
* Support Automation teams with analysis on valve timing and automated sequencing.
* Demonstrate leadership within work groups through your authoritative knowledge of hydraulic analysis and design.
**You Bring**
* A bachelor’s degree in engineering and 4+ years of relevant experience in natural gas pipeline hydraulics.
* Expertise in steady-state hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Synergi Gas, WinFlow, AFT).
* A solid understanding of pipeline operations, compressor design, and system capacity management.
* The ability to distill complex technical analysis into professional, timely, and actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
* A collaborative spirit and a desire to mentor peers through peer review and knowledge sharing.
* A proactive mindset focused on identifying opportunities and driving projects that enhance system safety, efficiency, and capability.
