Director of Human Resources

📍 Los Angeles, California 💰 $185,000 - $240,000 🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
This isn’t just another HR leadership role. It’s a chance to shape the culture, strategy, and people operations of a firm that values real partnership over bureaucracy. If you’re the kind of leader who thrives on building systems that actually work—and who can coach a partner through a tough conversation one minute and reimagine a benefits program the next—this Director of Human Resources role in Los Angeles is built for you. You’ll have a seat at the table, a voice in firm strategy, and the autonomy to make meaningful, lasting change.

**What You’ll Do**
You’ll lead the HR function across multiple offices, partnering directly with firm leadership, directors, and managers to ensure every people process runs smoothly, legally, and humanely. That means you’ll:

- Develop and implement HR policies that are compliant with federal, state, and local laws—and actually make sense for the people they affect
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor on workforce planning, organizational development, and complex employee relations matters
- Lead internal investigations, progressive discipline, performance management, and terminations with fairness and precision
- Coach leaders through conflict resolution, employee counseling, and performance guidance—helping them become better managers
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment grounded in accountability and mutual respect
- Maintain absolute confidentiality and sound judgment when handling sensitive organizational matters

**Talent & Operations**
You’ll own the full employee lifecycle for non-attorney business professionals across all offices. That includes:

- Overseeing recruiting, hiring strategies, candidate screening, background checks, onboarding, and orientation
- Managing performance evaluation programs for both attorneys and business professionals
- Administering annual compensation reviews, salary adjustments, and bonus processes
- Handling employee departures, transitions, exit interviews, and related documentation
- Supporting long-term talent development and retention initiatives

You’ll also oversee benefits administration, ensure compliance with labor laws, prepare annual HR budgets, and drive workforce planning. You’ll collaborate with leadership to proactively identify and resolve personnel issues, and you’ll continuously improve HR systems, processes, and reporting.

**What You Bring**
You have deep experience in HR leadership—ideally within a professional services or law firm environment. You know employment law inside and out, and you’ve handled everything from complex investigations to compensation planning. You’re a natural coach and a calm, credible presence in high-stakes situations. You’re also willing to travel between office locations as needed to support operational goals.
