Project Manager
📍 Charlotte, North Carolina
đź’° $140,000 - $190,000
🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
If you’re the kind of Project Manager who thrives on real ownership—where your decisions shape the schedule, the budget, and the final product—this role in Charlotte is built for you. We’re a confidential heavy civil contractor with a long-term backlog of DOT, roadway, and bridge work across the Carolinas. Here, you won’t just manage a project; you’ll lead it from dirt to closeout, with the compensation and autonomy to match your experience.
**What You’ll Do**
You’ll take the reins on heavy highway, road, and bridge projects, owning the entire lifecycle: planning, execution, and closeout. That means you’re the one driving the schedule, controlling costs, forecasting, and managing change orders. You’ll be the main point of contact for owners, agencies, subcontractors, and vendors—so your communication skills need to be as sharp as your technical ones.
You’ll also lead field supervision and project engineering teams, setting the tone for safety, quality, and production. When risks surface, you’ll spot them early and drive solutions before they become problems. And when it comes to contract changes, claims, or owner communication, you’ll protect the company’s position with clear documentation and smart negotiation.
**What You Bring**
- 10+ years of current or recent heavy highway, road, and bridge construction experience
- A track record managing medium to large civil projects—ideally $50M+
- Deep familiarity with DOT, roadway, bridge, grading, drainage, paving, utility, or civil infrastructure work
- Strong cost control, schedule management, and contract/change-order experience
- The ability to manage owners, agencies, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams without missing a beat
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)
- OSHA 30 (preferred)
**Why This Role Is Worth Your Time**
- **Compensation:** $140,000 – $190,000 base salary, depending on experience
- **Bonus:** Performance-based bonus opportunity
- **Benefits:** Full medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid time off; company-paid short-term and long-term disability
- **Stability:** A long-term heavy civil backlog in the Carolinas means you’re not just filling a seat—you’re building a career
- **Growth:** A clear path for someone who wants to lead meaningful infrastructure work and make a lasting impact
This isn’t a role for someone who wants to coast. It’s for a PM who wants to own the outcome, build something real, and get paid what they’re worth. If that sounds like you, let’s talk.
