Mechanical Design Engineer

📍 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 💰 $70,000 - $80,000 🏢 Full Time
**Mechanical Design Engineer: Design the Future of Material Handling**

**About This Opportunity:**
You’re not just designing another component; you’re engineering the customized conveyor systems that keep industries moving. We’re a specialized manufacturing leader south of Pittsburgh, and we’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives on turning complex requests into clever, cost-effective solutions. If you love the blend of deep technical design and the strategic puzzle of estimation, this role is your platform to impact projects from concept to completion.

**Your Role:**
You will be the technical cornerstone for our conveyor systems group, designing and estimating mechanical work projects that meet unique client challenges. Your days will balance creativity with precision, beginning with a Request for Quote (RFQ). You’ll develop accurate cost estimates and detailed drawings, analyzing labor, materials, equipment, and time through meticulous material take-offs. You’ll interface with our Corporate Purchasing Department to finalize pricing and compile polished, persuasive estimates for presentation. Using CAD software, you’ll create and update drawings, ensuring every design is manufacturable, meets quality and space constraints, and achieves the customer’s cost objectives.

**What You Bring:**

* A minimum of 3 years of professional mechanical design experience and 3 years in a dedicated estimator role.
* 2-5 years of demonstrated proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Illustrator).
* A strong understanding of machining processes, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing techniques.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficient math, science, and computer skills.
* The dual ability to self-motivate and collaborate effectively, communicating clearly with sales, research, and management teams.
* Experience with Ross ERP and Microsoft Dynamics CRM software is a significant plus.

**Why Join Us?**
We value your expertise and reward it with a comprehensive package. You’ll receive a competitive base salary of $70,000 - $80,000, plus quarterly bonuses (historically 10-15%) and a strong 401(k) with a 12% company contribution. Travel is minimal, at about 10%. You’ll have the autonomy to own your projects while being supported by a team that values a “team member” mentality.
