Structural Engineer

📍 Englewood, Colorado 💰 $115,000 - $157,000 🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
If you’re the kind of engineer who looks at a conveyor system and sees more than steel—who understands how every beam, connection, and foundation tells a story of load, safety, and efficiency—this role is for you. At KnowHireMatch, we’re partnering with a team in Englewood, Colorado that’s shaping the backbone of the mining industry. They need a Structural Engineer who doesn’t just follow the code but breathes it. You’ll own the structural design from concept through construction, working on projects that demand precision, creativity, and a deep respect for the forces at play. If you’re ready to move beyond the desk and into the real world of heavy industrial structures, keep reading.

**What You’ll Do**
You’ll be the technical anchor for structural systems in mining projects—think steel supports for crushers, conveyors, screens, tanks, pipes, and the foundations that hold them steady. Your day-to-day will include:

- Leading structural design, criteria development, and code compliance for entire systems or projects
- Using your experience to create initial layouts and beam sizing that set the stage for success
- Performing material take-offs and estimates that help win proposals and keep budgets on track
- Communicating member sizes, connections, and weld details to drafters and designers for accurate drawings and specs
- Developing and detailing structural connections, and proposing alternative framing solutions when the first idea isn’t the best
- Analyzing and designing steel supports and foundations for heavy equipment, including conveyors, crushers, screens, tanks, and piping
- Preparing design criteria that account for all relevant loads—dead, live, wind, seismic, and operational
- Creating 2D and 3D structural drawings in CAD software
- Compiling material take-offs and bill of material lists
- Reviewing vendor documents for structural components to ensure they meet your specs

You’ll work within prescribed methods but bring your own judgment to recognize discrepancies, adjust data, and follow each project through a series of detailed steps. You’ll be trusted to meet task and project time and budget goals, and your technical expertise will be the foundation others rely on.

**What You Bring**
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited program
- Six or more years of hands-on structural engineering experience, ideally in mining or heavy industrial environments
- Deep understanding of steel codes (AISC, AWS) and building codes (IBC, ASCE 7)
- Proven ability to design steel supports for heavy equipment and their foundations
- Proficiency with CAD software for 2D and 3D structural drawings
- A knack for material take-offs and bill of material preparation
- Strong communication skills to relay structural details to drafters, designers, and vendors
