**About This Opportunity**
If you live and breathe dirt, drainage, and daily production—and you’d rather be in the field than behind a desk—this is your next move. We’re partnering with a well-established heavy civil contractor who needs a hands-on Earthwork Superintendent to lead field operations on highway and infrastructure projects in the Sarasota market. This isn’t a support role. You’ll own the earthwork, lead the crews, and keep the work moving safely and on schedule. If you can read a plan, manage a crew, and solve problems before they become delays, let’s talk.
**What You’ll Be Leading**
You’ll oversee day-to-day field operations on heavy highway and civil construction projects. That means you’re the person who turns project plans, schedules, and manpower into real, measurable production. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading field crews and coordinating daily earthwork activities—from grading and drainage to slopes and specs
- Driving a safety-first culture and making sure every crew member follows company procedures
- Translating project plans and schedules into clear, actionable daily work plans
- Monitoring production closely, spotting schedule issues early, and communicating conflicts before they escalate
- Coordinating with other crews, subcontractors, and project leadership to keep everything aligned
- Assessing workforce needs, crew capability, and task assignments to maximize efficiency
- Resolving field issues, crew conflicts, and production challenges on the spot
- Reviewing plans, grades, slopes, drainage requirements, and project specs with a critical eye
- Approving material needs and supporting field requisitions
- Maintaining accurate field reporting and employee time records
**What You Bring**
You’re not just a supervisor—you’re a field leader who brings structure, discipline, and a production mindset. You know heavy highway work inside and out, and you’ve got the experience to back it up:
- Proven experience as an Earthwork Superintendent on heavy highway or civil infrastructure projects
- Deep knowledge of earthwork operations, drainage, grading, and site preparation
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and schedules
- Strong leadership skills—you can motivate a crew and hold them accountable
- A track record of keeping safety front and center
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
