Senior Project Engineer

📍 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 💰 $90,000 - $115,000 🏢 Full Time
**About This Opportunity**
If you’re the kind of engineer who thrives on the hum of a live production floor and gets excited about turning data into real, measurable improvements, this role is for you. At KnowHireMatch, we’re partnering with a leading steel manufacturing facility in Pittsburgh to find a Senior Project Engineer who doesn’t just design solutions—they get their hands dirty making them work. You’ll be the bridge between automation, maintenance, and production teams, driving continuous improvement and capital projects that directly impact uptime, yield, and safety. This isn’t a desk job; it’s a plant-floor leadership role where your technical chops and lean mindset will shape how millions of dollars of equipment perform every day.

**What You’ll Do**
You’ll own the performance of production lines—analyzing data, spotting bottlenecks, and leading the charge to boost OEE, reduce cycle time, and cut scrap. You’ll troubleshoot automation issues alongside Maintenance and Controls teams, diving into Fanuc robots, PLC systems, and industrial controls with a hands-on approach. When a system needs a modification, you’ll coordinate with OEMs or integrators to get it done right.

You’ll also manage small-to-mid-sized capital and improvement projects from concept to completion: defining scope, building cost estimates, and coordinating execution with production, safety, and quality teams. Root cause analysis is your bread and butter—you’ll implement corrective actions that stick. And you’ll leave a legacy by developing SOPs and troubleshooting guides that empower the whole team.

**What You Bring**
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of manufacturing or project engineering experience
- Strong lean manufacturing knowledge—you live for waste reduction and flow improvement
- Working familiarity with Fanuc robots and industrial automation systems
- Ability to read schematics and analyze equipment data like a second language
- A plant-floor mindset: you’re as comfortable in steel-toed boots as you are in a meeting room
- Sharp problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly

**Why This Role?**
Compensation: **$90,000 - $115,000 per year**, plus quarterly bonuses that can total 20-25% of your base salary. Benefits include a PPO plan with deductibles as low as $1,500, a wellness credit up to $750, free concierge primary care, and a voluntary 401k that matches up to 12%. You’ll also get free telemedicine, basic life insurance, and short- and long-term disability coverage.

This is your chance to work in a heavy industrial environment where your decisions matter immediately—and where your career can grow as fast as the projects you lead.
