Job Description
We are seeking a “hands on” Regional Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve a best-in-class Safety and EHS program across a multi-site operating footprint supporting the treatment of hazardous and non-industrial waste streams, oil/water separations, chemical processing, and related environmental services. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on strengthening a field-driven safety culture while building scalable systems, training, and accountability that protect people and support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Develop regional safety strategy that aligns with the strategic objectives of the company
Conduct safety meetings, audits, inspections, and investigations at the plant level
Assess and develop safety programs in partnership with the operations team to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety-related regulations, and other health, safety, and loss prevention standards
Serve as a strategic partner in the implementation of company initiatives and the development of policies, standards, practices, and procedures
Support local initiatives to drive the safety culture and support the company’s “Goal Zero Mindset” philosophy
Partner with operations personnel to develop effective hazard assessments and risk mitigation strategies
Monitor progress and facilitate key training programs, including but not limited to new hire, refresher, and management training in the areas of safety/proactive risk management
This position requires up to 40% regional travel in OH, IN, and KY
Qualifications include:
BS/BA in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credentials are preferred
Prior experience with chemical handling, flammables, oxidizers, chemical processing/storage, industrial oil/water separations, metals precipitation, or sludge dewatering is a plus
Proven ownership of confined space programs, including permitting, air monitoring, rescue planning, and ventilation strategies
Strong electrical safety expertise, including hazardous area classification, arc flash, and Lockout/Tagout programs
Practical experience leading BBP, HAZWOPER, and respiratory protection programs, including medical surveillance, PPE selection, and respirator selection using MUC calculations
Clear track record of driving cultural change and delivering measurable improvements in Safety or EHS programs
Ability to challenge, explain, and defend safety programs with diplomacy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence others within a matrix organization
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% to plant locations in OH, IN, and KY as needed
