Lead Attorney – Family law, Real Estate & Estate Law Location: Oakland County Job Type: Full-Time Position Overview Kingfisher Recruiting has been hired to source an experienced Lead Attorney to oversee and manage a growing legal practice focused on family law, Real Estate and estate planning. This role is ideal for a confident, client-facing attorney who can independently manage cases, provide strategic legal guidance, and serve as a senior legal resource within the firm. The Lead Attorney will lead the firm in the community, engage clients and work to grow the firm. This is a role requiring someone with a strong work ethic and commitment. What makes this a good role? Key Responsibilities Client Representation & Case Management • Manage a full caseload of family law matters including divorce, custody, parenting time, support, and post-judgment modifications • Handle estate planning and probate matters including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and estate administration • Support Real Estate transactions including title work and transactions • Conduct client consultations and provide clear, practical legal advice • Draft pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and estate planning documents • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and negotiations Legal Strategy & Oversight • Develop case strategy from intake through resolution • Identify legal risks and opportunities and advise clients accordingly • Ensure files are managed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with Michigan law and court procedures Leadership & Collaboration • Serve as the senior legal resource within the firm • Mentor and guide junior attorneys and legal support staff as needed • Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure high-quality client service • Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the firm Qualifications Required • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school • Active license to practice law in the State of Michigan • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in family law and estate planning • Strong courtroom and negotiation experience • Ability to independently manage cases from intake through resolution • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment Preferred • Experience with probate court proceedings • Background in mediation or collaborative law • Experience supervising or mentoring legal staff Key Traits for Success • Client-centered approach with strong emotional intelligence • Organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven • Confident decision-maker with sound legal judgment • Calm and professional under pressure • Committed to delivering high-quality legal work and client outcomes Compensation & Benefits • $120-150k base • Strong benefits package • Paid time off and holidays • Supportive work environment with long-term growth potential
