Assistant Chief Medical Officer
Compensation: $200K - $240K per year + Comprehensive Benefits Package
Job Type: Full Time. Monday - Friday. 8a-4:30p with one evening shift.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
We are seeking a full-time Assistant Chief Medical Officer to provide clinical leadership and administrative oversight within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. This role combines active patient care with strategic and operational leadership, working closely with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure high-quality, compliant, and financially sound clinical operations.
This position offers a clear leadership growth pathway, with the opportunity to advance into the Chief Medical Officer role over time based on performance, leadership impact, and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care while maintaining an active clinical practice
Support and oversee medical providers to ensure quality, productivity, and compliance standards are met
Assist in recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluation of physicians and advanced practice providers
Monitor clinical performance metrics and lead quality improvement initiatives (QI/QA)
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards (FQHC, HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and program development
Improve access to care by optimizing provider templates, productivity, and coverage planning
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clinical staff, administration, and community partners
Represent the organization in professional, regulatory, and community settings
Support development of clinical policies, workflows, and operational procedures
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Active Pennsylvania medical license (or ability to obtain)
DEA license and PA State Controlled Substance Registration
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience; prior leadership experience required
Experience supervising physicians and advanced practice providers
Strong knowledge of quality metrics and healthcare regulatory standards
Demonstrated ability to balance clinical excellence with administrative leadership
Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer applications
